Savor the Story, Stir the Soul

Golden Ember Soup

A fragrant ginger-based broth with saffron, rosemary, and peppers—welcoming optional fish or meat

Intro:
There are evenings when the air feels quiet. It is almost reverent. A bowl of soup speaks more than a thousand words. This is that soup. It is a golden broth kissed with saffron. It is sparked with peppers and grounded by ginger. The soup is stirred with rosemary’s herbal soul.

You can finish it with flaked white fish. You can also use delicate poached chicken. Alternatively, simply let the vegetables shine. This soup is a seasonal comfort. It is flavorful, warming, and boldly simple.

📋 Ingredients

  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced thin
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced thin
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • A pinch of saffron threads
  • 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 cup cooked fish (like cod or salmon) or poached chicken breast, shredded

🔥 Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot. Add ginger and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Stir in the peppers and rosemary. Cook until peppers soften slightly, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the broth and saffron. Bring to a gentle simmer and let the flavors meld for 15–20 minutes.
  4. If using protein, stir it in just before serving and allow to warm through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or a drizzle of lemon-infused oil.

🕯️ Mood Pairing:

  • Serve with warm crusty bread and candlelight.
  • Sip slowly while a mellow playlist hums in the background.
  • Let each spoonful remind you that nourishment can be ritual.
