Do You Need Time? Or Do You Follow It?

People often say, “I need time.” But what does that really mean? Is time something we possess, or something we move through? The phrase sounds simple, but it carries layers. To “need time” implies control, as if we can hold it, stretch it, or pause it. But time isn’t ours to own—it’s ours to witness.

We were born into this world without clocks, calendars, or countdowns. The earth didn’t ask us to measure it. The universe didn’t hand us a stopwatch. Time, as we know it, is a human invention—a way to organize, predict, and make sense of change. But the planet itself? It’s timeless. It existed before us and will continue long after we’re gone. We come and go, but the rhythm of the earth remains.

So no, I don’t need time. I need to follow it. Time doesn’t wait for anyone—it moves, with or without our permission. It doesn’t pause for our confusion or rewind for our regrets. That’s why chasing time is exhausting. Instead, I choose to walk with it. To notice the seasons, the sunrises, the quiet shifts. To live in sync, not in struggle.

When we say we need time, maybe what we really mean is: we need space. Space to breathe, to reflect, to grow. But space isn’t measured in minutes—it’s felt in presence. And presence doesn’t require a clock. It requires attention. It requires being here, now, with what is.

So please, enjoy the earth. Enjoy the breeze, the soil, the sky. Let time be your companion, not your captor. Don’t rush to catch it or beg it to slow down. Just move with it. Let it teach you how to live, not just how to schedule

Because in the end, time isn’t something we need—it’s something we honor. And the more we honor it, the more alive we feel. http://www.buymeacoffee/stirwithcatherine
