Savor the Story, Stir the Soul

I’ve been noticing the quiet weight of things I said yes to long ago. These include habits, roles, and even identities that no longer feel aligned. Some were born out of survival, others out of ambition or love. But now, they sit like coats I forgot to take off, heavy with stories that don’t quite fit anymore. I’m learning that release isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s a whisper: You don’t have to carry this now.
One of the hardest things to let go of has been the need to explain myself. To justify my boundaries, my softness, my pace. I used to think clarity required proof—that being understood meant being legible to everyone. But I’ve come to trust that real alignment doesn’t need translation. The people who are meant to walk with me already speak the language of presence and respect. The rest can pass by.
And then there’s the subtle grip of perfectionism—the kind that dresses itself up as “just being thorough.” I held it close because it made me feel safe, in control. But it also kept me from breathing fully into my work, my rest, my relationships. I’m slowly trading it for intentionality: doing things with care, not fear. Letting my blog, my routines, and my life show truth over polish. That feels like freedom.
